Rom e i touristi, 2012 (Rome and the tourists)

Being also one of them I can´t complain. But the Trevi Fountain yesterday was too much for me. I started the sketch and soon gave up.
Today I finished the sketch by just adding any person who looked interesting. Even cars and Vespas. Bonus material: If you look close enough you can identify some parts of the TREVI FOUNTAIN.

Piazza Navona in Rome, 2012

Blue sky and a sunshine that makes you want to rather side in the shade. Noise from everywhere, people laughing, many different languages, the fountain water splashing: this is Rome.

Vaticano Museo: Entering the Vatican Museum

Impressive Doorway and difficult to get in.
I joined an English tour and after two hours watching and gazing we entered the famous Sistene Chapel. Michelangelo spent years there. I felt reminded of the movie Angels and Demons.

Isola Tiberina, the island in Rome

On my walk through Rome I crossed the river Tiber, which is called Trevere in Italian. Coming back to my place I had the chance to sketch the Isola Tiberina.

Saint Peter´s Dome in Rome 2012

We finally made it to Rome. Lufthansa "forgot" our luggage at the Munic Aiport and we had to find out how to get it. Two hours later.... But Rome is fantastic. Today on Sunday 22 April 2012 the Pope gave a speech.

Waller Bad on Sunday at noon April 2012

This morning we convinced ourselves again to go swimming. On Sunday mornings the public pool in Walle is not overcrowded, only young families with their kids who learn how to swim.

Worpswede Barkenhoff 2012

The Barkenhoff in Worpswede was the home of Heinrich Vogeler and his extended family. They founded the artist colony and their work still attract many tourists. The building is in the style of art noveau (Jugendstil) and is open to the public.ANd it is definitely worth the trip. On Easter only the bookstore was open due construction works. We will come back and will stay overnight.

Cafe Worpswede 2012

Cafe Worpswede 2012, originally uploaded by manfred schloesser.

Worpswede is a small village north of Bremen and it is quite famous. Several young artists in the beginning of the 20th century began experimenting with modern art: Heinrich Vogeler, Hans am Ende and of course Paula Moderson-Becker just to name some of them. The cafe Worpswede is a building with an amazing architecture. Almost no 90 degree angle for the walls. It was a challenge to draw this. Even the dinner plates were picasso-esk.
